Gathery Privacy Policy
Gathery is a social app for inviting friends to spontaneous, short-lived gatherings. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. The short version: we collect the minimum the product needs, we show your data only to friends you chose, and we never sell it.
What we collect
- Account info — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo. You also choose a username.
- Gathering locations — the map location you pick when you create a gathering, along with its description and your invite list.
- Live location — only if you are hosting a gathering and switch on live sharing. Your position updates about once a minute, is visible only to the friends you invited, and stops the moment you toggle it off, end the gathering, or it expires. Guests' locations are never tracked.
- Push tokens — a device identifier so invites can reach your phone as notifications.
- Usage and crash data — anonymous analytics events (like "a gathering was created") and crash reports, via Google Firebase, to fix bugs and improve the app.
What we don't do
- No selling or renting your data to anyone.
- No advertising profiles.
- No contact-book upload — friends are added by username only.
- No tracking your location outside of live sharing you switched on.
Who can see your data
Gatherings, including their location and your responses, are visible only to the host and the people the host invited. Your profile (name, username, photo) is visible to signed-in users so friends can find you by username.
Where it lives
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Google Cloud). Gatherings are ephemeral by design — they expire within at most 7 hours and disappear from all feeds.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account any time in the app (Profile → Delete account) or follow the steps at gathery-app.web.app/delete-account.html. Deletion permanently removes your profile, friends, gatherings, and frees your username.
Children
Gathery is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data.
